A.S.S. by the Light of Moon

After my first bike ride in over 6-weeks (since my last cyclocross race on December 10th to be precise), I met Stephen, Jeff and Summer, and we drove up to Hyak at Snoqualmie Pass for an evening of skiing under the stars. Oh, and the moon!

Que bela luna!

Under monochrome light -- we didn't bother using our headlamps except in the deepest darkest section of woods on the screaming descents, -- we skied up the long and often uber steep trail leading to the summit nordic trails up above Ski Acres. White peaks lit up all around us and it was surreal, almost out of body, like being in a moonscape or having a Hunter S Thompson-esk desert experience. On the ride home, only minutes after having been out there I felt as though it had been a dream or that I was in a spaceship bound for planet Earth after having been transported to a far out place in outer space.

Yes, we all got some A.S.S. Off the groomed trails the snow had firmed up after weeks of freezing and thawing and so we could ski out-of-bounds at our leisure, out into meadows and around the treetops that stuck up through the depths of accumulated snow.

Da damn, it was amazing!

Check out Heffe's page for what will undoubtedly be additional rantings about this tremendous ski: http://.
