A Day Like Any Other Day...

...except that now i am a blogger! two-years ago i'd never heard the term "blog" and i'm still trying to figure it out although i've known for awhile now that this is something which resonates with me:

to cast your thoughts and impressions out into the live wide world as if it might start revolutions... as if someone might actually read it.

in case anyone noticed me missing, in case anyone has wondered why i'm not around, its because i'm back living along the banks of the mighty waters of chi: the CHIWAWA!

i was collecting a pittance on unemployment for a mere one week before i decided that even the lowliest of jobs that consumes much precious time was better than being a bum (although i don't concur that without a residence or legal tender you're a bum, or maybe its that i don't necessarily think a bum is a bad way to be... anyhow). at least i'm back in the mountains, on the river, and there is snow in the hills! but this is both good and particularly evil at the same time: the mountain trails that just weeks ago i rode on bicycle i am still unable to ride on skis: its betweener seasons, yuk. so how do i go agro now? anyway that i can:

yesterday, for example, i took the stevens pass bus up to the summit and skied almost non-stop from opening til 1pm in perfect spring weather: big sun overhead and fog filled the valleys. snow was forgiving and made for some nice first turns of the season. i hit the lodge for a beer before heading down the hill to my car before onto leavenhoochie where i started off on a 3-1/2 hour ride commencing at after 2pm... yeah, i ended up riding highway 2 in the dark, no lights, of course. and on my fixed gear! what a sweet power day: 4 hours of tele and over 3 hours of fixie!

the ritual continues: in bed by 10, asleep by 10:01; up at 6, the 0630 bus to Nordic, and back home about 5pm. its too much like work when you leave home AND arrive home in the dark. the consolation is that its in the name of the greatest good: NORDIC. tomorrow i rise early to get on the trainer to spin out my stiffening legs.
